Bylaws Committee

COMMITTEE CHARGE:The charge of the Bylaws Committee/VMLS is to monitor bylaw and structural changes within the Medical
Library Association and to recommend changes to the Section’s Bylaws in keeping with the changes within MLA; to ensure that
Section Bylaws continue to be approved by the MLA Bylaws; and to advise Section members and officers concerning bylaws issues.

International Relations Committee

COMMITTEE CHARGE: The VMLS/MLA International Relations Committee will take a leadership role in fostering cooperation in the area
of resource and information sharing among the animal health and welfare libraries around the world to support the informational
needs of the animal health and welfare communities.

Public Relations Committee

COMMITTEE CHARGE: To serve as a public relations and information source about the Section's activities. To serve as the Section's
liaison to the American Veterinary Medical Association and other organizations in providing information and coordinating projects.
To develop guidelines and policies for regulating and providing standards in establishing displays and exhibits at organizational
meetings.

Rural Datification Study Committee

STATUS: Ad Hoc
CHAIR: Norma F. Funkhouser (6/2000-5/2001)
COMMITTEE CHARGE:Continues to collect information about the rural datafication project. Prepares an article for the Spring or
Fall 1995 issue of the Section's newsletter to inform Section members about the project and provide implications for veterinary
medical libraries and suggestions for disseminating information to veterinary practitioners. Committee's annual report should include
Committee's recommendation on whether or not efforts should continue related to the projects, and provide suggestions for further
Section activity if reccomendation is on the affirmative.

Survey Committee

STATUS: Standing Committee
CHAIR:
COMMITTEE CHARGE: The Survey Committee shall triennially compile data on veterinary medical school libraries in the United States
and Canada via a survey or other appropriate data collection method and shall maintain and disseminate the data to Section members
and other interested parties. This charge was "amended" at the Section's 1992 Annual Meeting with members voting that the Committee
conducts a brief survey of "critical" data every year, with an extensive survey every three years.

Union List Committee

COMMITTEE CHARGE: To work toward the publication of a third, electronic edition of Veterinary Serials, a Union List

Veterinary Serials Committee

STATUS: Standing Committee
CHAIR: Trenton Boyd (6/2000-5/2001)
COMMITTEE CHARGE: The Veterinary Serials Committee shall maintain, update and publish the Basic List of Veterinary Medical
Serials on a regular basis; shall, provided no similar publication is available, notify members of veterinary serials changes
(new titles, title changes, cessations, etc) on a regular basis; shall identify and report serial-related issues of interest to
Section and, upon request, express Section concerns on such issues to appropriate individuals and/or organizations; and shall work
with organizations to provide veterinary libraries with copies of their publications.

Task Force on Connecting the Veterinary Health Record to Information Resources

STATUS: Task Force
CHAIR: Kristine Alpi (6/2010-5/2012)
COMMITTEE CHARGE: To explore how to encourage connections between publishers of veterinary resources and veterinary health record/practice management systems developers and vendors; to compile a list of information providers who have content that could be beneficial at point of care in veterinary systems; to coordinate with the American Animal Hospital Association's Electronic Health Records Task Force which is working closely with the systems vendor community.
